Graduate of Kamehameha School in 1993; obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from the University of Hawai’i in 1999, with a primary focus on Hawaii’s natural history & the conservation of native biota; co-founded Hui Ku Maoli Ola in 1999; elected to the Board of Directors for the Honolulu Botanical Gardens in 2002; primary contributor to the weekly Star Bulletin newspaper article In The Garden which has run on Fridays from June, 2002-2009
